Mark and Trish

In Late 1979...

Brothers Craig and Mark Banning embarked on a joint venture to establish a restaurant together. After an extensive search, they settled on a closed-down location at the corner of 69th and Pacific Highway in Tigard. With their families by their side, they set about transforming the restaurant: clearing landscaping, remodeling the building, developing menus, decorating the interior, stocking inventory, and handpicking a dedicated team to serve their customers.

By the 1980s, responding to increasing customer demand, Mark made the bold decision to keep their restaurant open 24/7, becoming one of the few establishments in the area to do so. The only day they closed was Christmas Day. However, due to changes following the coronavirus pandemic Banning's made the tough decision to no longer operate around the clock. Today, they are open every day from 7am to 10 pm, with extended hours until 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

Over the past 47 years, Mark and Trish Banning have not only nurtured their business but also raised a family amidst the challenges of an evolving economic landscape. All three Banning children have been integral to the restaurant's operations, cementing a tradition with their family's cherished establishment. Mark and Trish continue to work in the business, balancing their time with their four grandchildren, who are frequent visitors to the restaurant enjoying meals or visiting their parents and grandparents in the office.

Trish's upbringing on a farm in St. Paul, Oregon, instilled in her a passion for cooking, honed by daily kitchen duties for her large family. Mark grew up on a farm in Gervis, sharing similar agricultural roots and a background in the restaurant industry. Their 48-year marriage has been a testament to their shared values and experiences, blending farm life with culinary expertise. At Banning's Restaurant, their offerings reflect their heritage and life experience, from hearty farmer's omelets to made-from-scratch hotcakes using a cherished buttermilk recipe. Their commitment to quality and tradition shines through in every dish, ensuring a warm, familial atmosphere for their loyal patrons.

Thank you to our loyal customers and staff!!!

 With gratitude, The Banning Family
